Clean Water Transforms Lives for Over 20,000 People in Yemen
More than 20,000 people in Abyan, Yemen, now have free and sustainable access to clean water, following a high-impact intervention by Pure Hands Malaysia, in partnership with MYCARE.
In Rusud District, families had long depended on costly diesel-powered water, placing a heavy financial burden on already vulnerable communities. Through the full rehabilitation of the Al-Saf’ah water station and the installation of a solar-powered system, water is now reliably accessible at no cost, restoring both stability and dignity.
The project delivered a remarkable increase in water availability, boosting production by over 250% — from 36 m³ to 128 m³ per day. This ensures a continuous and safe water supply while reducing exposure to contaminated sources and associated health risks.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), this initiative demonstrates the power of targeted, sustainable solutions in transforming lives and strengthening community resilience in Yemen.
